Finding the right yoga teacher will change your life.

Jocelyn Solomon , or first teacher spotlight. The Root Board

I’ve been wanting to write about yoga teachers for awhile. I’m currently at the end of my 200 HR teacher training, and the experience has really opened my eyes to what it takes to be a good yoga teacher. Classes that leave you feeling strengthened, calm and connected are led by teachers that have spent a lot of time preparing interesting sequences, researching and scripting empowering messages, and offering fresh playlists.  But that’s not all.  The best teachers rigorously self-study and are authentic in sharing their life experiences and their own challenges.  A great teacher will gently take you on a journey of self-discovery.  This is our first Teacher Spotlight, meant to highlight exceptional yoga teachers.

I met Jocelyn a few years ago. I naturally gravitated towards her, maybe because she was wearing a Grateful Dead shirt, or maybe it was her friendliness and positivity.  For me, it was instant chemistry.  I feel connected and full of purpose after her class. From the first week of the COVID-19 quarantine, she offered a zoom class, which became a lifeline. Added bonus… she sends a weekly playlist for you to play along with the class.  I miss hearing music during class. It transports me to a happy place and Jocelyn really gets that.
